Council Spends $1.1 Million of School Bond Money on Other Projects

At its May 19th meeting, the Vernon Town Council took

$815,900.00 from the CAPITAL PROJECTS FUND – ORDINANCE 257, ROCKVILLE HIGH SCHOOL ADDITIONS AND RENOVATIONS; and

$623,100.00 from the CAPITAL PROJECTS FUND -ORDINANCE #260, VARIOUS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ADDITIONS AND RENOVATIONS;

for a combined total of $1,439,000 for;

Replacement of the town-wide telephone system for $500,000

Generator upgrade for Town Hall, Senior Center and Town Annex for $363.000

Paving of Vernon Center Middle School Parking Lot $332,000

Completion of West Street Bridge Project, $244,000

HOW CAN SCHOOL BOND MONEY BE USED FOR A TOWN-WIDE TELEPHONE SYSTEM, A GENERATOR AND A BRIDGE?
